For our customer, we, as WGS, are looking for a Configuration Management (CM) Engineer and Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) Engineer to assist in developing, maintaining or operating the existing CM-related documentation (e.g. procedures, working practices…) to be applied by the Copernicus Programme Office, CMD Division, and TSS Department activities in the Configuration Management department.
The successful candidates will be based at EUMETSAT headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany (however, some flexibility is allowed for offsite work).
Typically, tasks will include:
- Provide an efficient and effective CM Service in support of the Copernicus Programme development, maintenance and operations activities;
- Provide service to the following entities:
- Copernicus Programme Office (CPO) of the Operations and Services to Users Department (OPS) of EUMETSAT for what concerns operations activities,
- CMD Division of the Programme Preparation and Development Department (PRD) of EUMETSAT for what concerns development activities,
- TSS Department for what concerns maintenance and support to development and operations activities funded by Copernicus,
supporting the following missions:
o Sentinel-3,
o Jason-CS (Sentinel-6),
o CIMR,
o CO2M,
o CRISTAL,
o Sentinel-3 New Generation O
The Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes and skills:
- A university degree in a relevant technical discipline (i.e., engineers, computer science) or the equivalent work experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in the definition, implementation, monitoring and control of engineering/technical changes on large scale, software-intensive systems in an operational environment, preferably for high-availability (24h/7d) systems
- Experience in overseeing, managing, supervising or implementing computer systems configurations and software development activities from source code archiving, build and packaging, to deployment onto configuration controlled environments, either as CM engineer or as SWQA engineer
- Hands-on experience of at least one Change and Configuration Management tool (e.g. Micro Focus Dimensions CM, Clearcase and Clearquest...)., CM tool managing software, hardware and documents
- Proven experience of software development with Object-Oriented Programming languages such as Java and / or C++
- Experience of using and writing SQL queries
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in working on collaborative complex programmes or projects involving different partners or different suppliers
- Hands-on experience in managing or overseeing management of Software, Hardware and Documentation Configuration Items
- Proven experience in supporting end users and delivering training sessions to a set of users
- Experience in managing, reporting and following-up procured computer software based systems and software development standards
- Proven experience of software or system testing methodologies and supporting tools
- Knowledge of anomaly/non-conformity management; project management and planning under system engineering life-cycles
- Knowledge of design, development, testing or maintenance of communications equipment and systems
- Exposure in modelling complex engineering/technical/management processes with tools such as Symbio
- Ability to prepare management reports and executive summaries, and to review existing EUMETSAT working practices paying due attention to use applicable EUMETSAT CM terms
- Systematic approach to work, including the ability to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks
- Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the implementation of the service
- Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. Be able to plan your work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks
- Certain deliverables/service outputs may require travel within Germany / Europe / worldwide
- Write accurate and consistent technical documentation
- Fluent in English (communication and writing skills)
