Description

WGS Workgroup Solutions GmbH is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Engineering Team for our customer, EUMETSAT. The service will be provided on-site in Darmstadt, Germany. We are particularly interested in candidates who are ideally based in Germany.

Responsibilities

The role involves implementing a rapid program development lifecycle using the Common DevOPS Framework (CDF) within the context of ECSS Phases 0, A, B, C, and D. The candidate will be responsible for integrating incremental and iterative approaches with pipelines and tools to support software delivery, automation, and process improvements within EUMETSAT's infrastructure.

Key service tasks include Analysis, Pilot and Market Survey, Design, Implementation, Maintenance, Training, Monitoring, Evaluation, User Support, Security Management, Framework Access, Disaster Recovery, Technical Oversight, Management of Service Activities, and Integration with Corporate Tools and Development Lifecycle. The CDF will focus on CI-CD pipelines, IVV pipelines, release management, and monitoring. The candidate will learn and utilize this framework to ensure efficient and automated software delivery across all relevant ECSS phases.

Qualifications

The Key Person shall have the following experience and background:

  • Effective written and verbal communication in English (fluent in English)
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge in all engineering lifecycle activities (e.g. requirements definition, design, development, integration, verification, and validation);
  • Service based approach for defining system specifications
  • In-depth knowledge in the development of DevOps Pipelines for Continuous Integration and Delivery;
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle, and design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience Container Ecosystems (image registry, building container images, deploying, and running in Docker and/or Kubernetes)
  • Good understanding and usage of API to interconnect and automate systems
  • Experience in setting up and configuring test frameworks, test automation (GUIs & APIs), particularly web-based testing frameworks
  • Experience in test automation using scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience in building and automating the environments setup via Hybrid Infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience in automating the deployment of virtual infrastructure (e.g. virtual machines) and their configuration.
  • Good knowledge of defining and establishing configuration management process for incremental software delivery and release.
  • Experience using the following tools or equivalent: - GitLab. - Maven, Jenkins. - Harbor, Nexus; Ansible, Terrafo
  • Familiarity with GitOPS concept
  • Experience implementing monitoring of DevOPS pipelines
  • Experience of integration and testing of software installations;
  • Integrate CI-CD pipelines with corporate tools (e.g. Serena Dimensions, JIRA and Confluence).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML with practical implementation of algorithms and ML environments will be advantageous
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban, including experience with agile project management tools like Trello, Jira, or Asana
  • Obtaining a DevOps certification is advantageous but not required
